During our 6 weeks stay in Ubud we have been to many warungs and In Da Compound Warung was definitely in our top 5 list.

The entrance of In Da Compound Warung is directly in the Jl. Gootama street, the kind of pedestrian-only-area in Ubud. But the warung itself is tucked away in the backyard

In Da Compound Warung offers a variety of Indonesian dishes that highlight the rich flavors of the local Indonesian cuisine. One of their standout dishes is Nasi Campur and Nasi Goreng.

Nasi Campur (which translates to mixed rice) is a beloved Indonesian dish that features a serving of rice accompanied by an assortment of flavorful side dishes such as flavorful curries, sambal (spicy chili paste), vegetables, sate (skewered and grilled meat or tofu), tempeh, and crispy fried items like fried chicken or fish.

What made Nasi Campur at In Da Compound Warung special was its authentic preparation and the diverse selection of accompanying dishes.

PICKING TIP

A warung is a small, Indonesian eatery or food stall which are are an integral part of Indonesian culinary culture. They offer a wide range of authentic dishes at affordable prices. When traveling to Indonesia we highly recommend to visit a local warung at least once.

Picking tip:

  • Go there early! Especially between 18-20.00h the warung is crowded and you need to queue. They do not take reservations, it is a first-come-first-serve system.
  • Try their fresh coconut!
