The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, often referred to as the Ubud Monkey Forest, is a renowned nature reserve and Hindu temple complex located in Ubud, Bali, Indonesia.

Observe monkeys: The highlight is the chance to observe and interact with the playful and mischievous macaques that roam freely within the sanctuary. Visitors can observe the monkeys' natural behaviors, but they can be sneaky. Be aware of your belongings =)

Balinese Hindu Temple Complex: The sanctuary is home to several ancient Hindu temples dating back centuries. These temples, adorned with intricate stone carvings and sacred statues, hold spiritual significance for the local community.

Lush Tropical Forest: The sanctuary is set within a dense, lush jungle environment which feels like a mystic place. You can explore forested pathways amidst towering trees, dense foliage, and moss-covered stone structures.

Picking tips:

  • During weekends there are special free performances (e.g. Kecak dance) within the park and which is included in the ticket. 
  • You should avoid direct interaction with the monkeys. Do NOT bring any food, plastic bottles or plastic bags into the sanctuary! The monkeys can be sneaky and are trying to get some food.
