Sun Sun Warung
One of the best warungs in Ubud
During our 6 weeks stay in Ubud we have been to many warungs and Sun Sun Warung was one of the best and most traditional in the Ubud area.
The Sun Sun Warung offers a variety of Indonesian dishes that highlight the rich flavors of the local Indonesian cuisine. One of their standout dishes is Nasi Campur.
Nasi Campur (which translates to mixed rice) is a beloved Indonesian dish that features a serving of rice accompanied by an assortment of flavorful side dishes such as flavorful curries, sambal (spicy chili paste), vegetables, sate (skewered and grilled meat or tofu), tempeh, and crispy fried items like fried chicken or fish.
What made Nasi Campur at Sun Sun Warung special was its authentic preparation and the diverse selection of accompanying dishes. But also other dishes are delicious such as the sate satays with tempeh, the curry or the famous nasi goreng.
PICKING TIP
A warung is a small, Indonesian eatery or food stall which are are an integral part of Indonesian culinary culture. They offer a wide range of authentic dishes at affordable prices. When traveling to Indonesia we highly recommend to visit a local warung at least once.
Picking tip:
- Go there early! Especially between 18-20.00h the warung is crowded and you need to queue. They do not take reservations, it is a first-come-first-serve system.
