Learn more about the night sky at one of the darkest places on Earth
Have you heard of Lake Tekapo in New Zealand? It is one of the top places in the world to go stargazing!
Lake Tekapo, located on New Zealand's South Island, is part of the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve. It is considered as one of the darkest locations on Earth as the light pollution is very low.
This means on a clear night you can easily see countless stars and even galaxies without a telescope. And that's why you have got loads of stargazing tour operators to choose from.
We can highly recommend this smaller independent stargazing tour operator: Chameleon Stargazing.
This tour operator is run by George who is very knowledgeable about astronomy and did an incredible job explaining us the various star constellations.
To make this experience even more special George also provides cozy blankets, 2 telescopes, hot chocolate (plant-based milk alternatives available when booking) and marshmallows to roast over the fire.
