But let's get started and see yourself:

Explore the pins

Lucky Bay

One of the most beautiful beaches of the World

Australia, Western Australia
Beach
1-2 hours

Without a doubt this is one of the most beautiful beaches of the world. The water gets from crystal clear to turquoise to dark blue. The sand is one of the finest and whitest – when touching it, it feels like touching wheat flour.

On the downside, there are many 4-wheeler trucks driving at the beach and this did not invite to us to go for a swim or relax in the sun. Additionally it was also very windy on the day we went and there was also a shark warning in place.

But overall Lucky Bay has to be on your Western Australia bucket list!

PICKING TIP

  • If you want to stay at Lucky Bay camping ground, you have to book months in advance!
  • Do not make the mistake like us and visit during the middle of the day. We only saw one kangaroo relaxing next to a picnic bench close to the beach. The best time to encounter wild kangaroos at the beach is early in the morning (at sunrise) or late afternoon.
  • If you are also planning on traveling the East Coast of Australia another great spot to witness wild kangaroos at the beach is Cape Hillsborough National Park.

Twilight Beach

Turquoise water beach with a natural stone island

Beach
1-5 hours

Twilight beach is another stunning Western Australian beach featuring turquoise water, white sand and even a natural stone island very close to the shore. It is located only 10min drive away from Esperance town and very easily accessible.

A popular thing is to climb the stone island and jump in the water from there. But note that shark sightings are quite common in this area. Watch your surroundings!

PICKING TIP

  • There is a shark warning system used at this beach. We also recommend you to download the Sharksmart App to keep an eye on the latest shark sightings in Western Australia.
  • If you do not feel comfortable to get in the water, it is also great to just relax at the beach.
  • Consider bringing a picnic basket with snacks and refreshments. Are you ready for a top-notch beach day in Western Australia?

Are you looking for a great spot for snorkeling in Western Australia? Then you should definitely visit Greens Pool which feels like a huge natural aquarium!

Located in William Bay National Park it is close to the the town of Denmark in Western Australia.

You can describe Greens Pool as a sandy-white beach with a sheltered area ringed by large granite boulders

Therefore, the water is very calm creating perfect conditions for snorkeling and swimming close to the shore.

The pools created by the granite boulders contain interesting marine life. such as small sting rays, many colorful fish and beautiful green underwater plants.

There are also other beaches and view points around in this area of the William Bay national park such as Elephant Rocks.

PICKING TIP

  • Check the weather conditions and tide before heading to Greens Pool. Clear days enhance the stunning turquoise waters and underwater visibility and low tide reveals fascinating rock pools.
  • Still water, sheltered from sharks and a beautiful underwater scenery – take your snorkeling equipment with you!

Wylie Head Beach

Awesome beach with a sand bar that shows up at low tide

GOLD
Australia, Western Australia
Beach
15 minutes – 3 hours

Wylie Head Beach is a unique beach in Esperance. If you come at low tide you will be able to walk across a sand bar to a rock formation and enjoy the view there. Another great thing to do is to walk up the rocks next to the beach at sunset for a sunset to remember.

PICKING TIP

  • Great beach for 4WD driving. We even saw people driving down the big rocks!
  • If it’s a windy day, it might be uncomfortable to pick this beach for sunbathing.

Waterfall beach

Hidden beach with beautiful water colors

GOLD
Australia, Western Australia
Beach
2-3 hours

This beach has to be on our Western Australia travel bucket list as it is Chrissi's favorite beach in this area!

Waterfall Beach is still a very untouched, secluded beach with vivid blue water colors. We almost had the beach to ourselves during peak season!

The beach is also sheltered and makes a great beach for swimming (unpatrolled). But be always careful of underwater currents.

How to get to this beach? Walk down to Little Beach from the car park until you get to the end of this beach, then follow a  short path through the bush, leading to rocks. Here it gets a little bit tricky, you have to climb over these rocks but do not worry this doesn't take too long.

PICKING TIP

  • Note that there isn't actually a waterfall as you might expect it but in winter you can apparently see water running down from the boulders into the ocean.
  • Wear good shoes when climbing over the rocks to get to the beach. The rock surface can be very slippery.
