The World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains National Park is a picturesque national park located very close to Sydney and therefore many tourists use it as a day trip during their stay in Sydney. The Katoomba area is the most visited area, which is also where the famous rock formation Three Sisters is located. In the national park you can see stunning valleys, forests, waterfalls and do spectacular hikes.

PICKING TIP

How to visit? You can either book a group day tour from Sydney where everything is included (Bus drive, Scenic World entrance fee, Leura village, other stops). Or you can take the train from Sydney on your own to Katoomba (2 hours ride) and then use the Blue Mountains Explorer Bus (Hop-on-hop-Off bus) to visit all the sights in your own tempo. We did the latter option and we would do it again like that.

Be aware that the national park is large and there are also many other not so touristic areas to see if you have more time.
